MSI X-Slim X320 13-inch Notebook

The MSI X-Slim X320 is the worlds thinnest and lightest 13-inch notebook on the market right now. The X320 should not be mistaken for a low quality netbook. The latest X320 model comes with a 250GB Hard Drive and 2GB DDR2 RAM. Some low notes though is it comes with a Intel Atom 1.6GHz Processor that will be sure to bottle neck the notebooks performance. It also only comes with a 4 cell battery, but with such a barebones laptop you could probably expect the battery to be more than suitable.

The real selling point for the MSI X-Slim X320 is its size, weight and low cost. The laptop is 6mm at its thinnest and 20mm at its thickest. Also with the low weight of 2.8 pounds you should never have to worry about the hassle of carrying around your laptop. The price really makes it a great buy. Coming in at only $599 right now on sites like newegg.com you can expect this to be a hot seller.

The 13″ 16:9 glare type display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and uses LED backlight.

The MSI X320 also comes with a 1.3MP web camera, speakers, wifi, Bluetooth, an ethernet port, thre USB ports, card reader, and a VGA port. One feature that is a real disappointment is the MSI X320 lacks an optical drive to read cd’s and dvd’s. This is no doubt due to its extremely thin design, but it seems like an almost necessity to have in a laptop for watching movies, installing programs, and ripping music. Overall a great ultra thin and light notebook that lacks some features, but makes up for it with the price point of only $599.

Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Notebook Review

Dell has come out with yet another Inspiron notebook to add to their very large line of laptops. This time around it is the Dell Inspiron Mini 12. It is very similar to Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9 except it comes with a 12 inch screen instead of a 9 inch and it also comes with a much needed performance upgrade.
Here is a quick spec list:

Price: $549 (recommended config $600 )
Screen Size: 12 inches (1280 x 800)
Intel Atom Processor 1.33GHz
3 Cell Battery (3 Hours of Life) *Also a 6 cell Upgrade
40GB PATA Hard Drive (4200RPM)
1 GB DDR2 RAM 533MHz
Vista Operating System

As you can see the specs are not too great, but they are pretty good for a budget portable laptop. The laptop makes up for the specs by offering a very reasonable price tag of only $500 and it comes with a larger keyboard than most mini netbooks. The notebook is also very portable. Weighing in at only 2.72 pounds and being only .92 inches thick makes this netbook compete with rivals in both weight and thickness. This notebook is perfect for any business person on the go that wants a notebook that’s not too big to carry around easily, but not so small that it is difficult type on. I feel that with the Inspiron Mini 12, Dell has finally found a sweet spot between the Inspiron Mini 9 and their normal sized Inspiron Laptops.

Acer Aspire One

Acer Aspire OneEvery day you see more and more mini-notebooks pop up on the market saying that they are more powerful and versatile, yet more expensive. Well Acer has entered the market with a new approach by building a simple yet solid miniature notebook with the cost of only $379. The notebook is following the trend for mini notebooks by putting a Linux operating system on the computer instead of XP or Vista. This is really almost a necessity for today’s mini notebooks due to the fact at how much Vista slows down your computer and XP being phased out by Microsoft. The notebook comes in a variety of glossy fingerprint resistant colors white, blue, pink and black.

Now if you are looking for the smallest and lightest notebook you can find well this is definitely one of the best ones out on the market in size and weight. The Aspire One measures in at 9.8 x 6.7 x 1.1 inches and weighs just 2.2 pounds. The Aspire One provides an easy-to-use access to the internet and the Aspire also comes standard with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connection. This laptop is perfect for a traveler wanting to have an easy to use light and portable laptop to access the internet while on the go.

Voodoo Envy 133 Review

Voodoo Envy When Voodoo teamed up with HP they set out to make one of the sleekest and most innovative ultra portable notebooks out on the market and that is exactly what they have created. The Voodoo Envy may be more expensive(starting price $2,099) than its only counterpart the Mac Book Air, but what you receive in return is more ports, an amazing instant-on-mode, a replaceable battery and don't forget the Voodoo allows you to customize the laptop to your heart's content. The Voodoo is just a little bit bigger and heavier than the Mac Book Air, but it is not a considerable difference. It weighs only 3.4 pounds and is only .7 inches thick.

Another great feature of the Envy is the tiny power brick. This power brick will give the Voodoo Envy about 3.5 hours of power, but it also allows you to create your own wireless network with a range of around 50 feet. The Voodoo Envy is a top of the line notebook that looks as great as it performs.
